Revival of the Ancient Minoan Spirit: The Spiral as a source of inspiration for contemporary ceramic jewelry
The idea for the speira series originated when I was asked to participate in the exhibition dedicated to Minoan civilization at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum.

I was inspired by the symbol of the spiral, a symbol of Vital Power, found on all vessels of the Minoan period. The Spiral is one of the oldest symbols and has been used since the Paleolithic era in the Hellenic area. This complex yet powerful symbol is encountered everywhere as well as in many ancient civilizations around the world.

My inspiration also came from the frescoes of the Knossos Palace, specifically the blue Ladies, the octagonal shield, and the rosettes were references for my work.

This series of mine highlights the timeless influence of our ancient Greek civilization and how we as creators can be inspired to create something contemporary from the old."
